Many Northern CA Sheriff's Departments are now using the "Permitium system" for initial and renewal CCW permits. Check your county to the left (on our blue bars) to see if your County Sheriff is using Permitium. This new system is your application and renewal application, which is now submitted online to your sheriff department.

To download the new and revised CA Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) application, click on this link.  This is the new application provided by the CA Department of Justice, and was revised November 2012. As of December 8, 2015, this is the most current revised application.

Please adhere to the instructions of the County Sheriff (the county which you reside in). Most counties require that you make an appointment for your background check interview, and this appointment is where you will hand them this completed (not signed) application, as well as other documentation required. Do your research!
